Hi Delene,

Thanks for the nice comments. I started this Northwest Living blog in October 2006 and it's gone through several transformations ever since. While attending the annual Washington Association of Realtors Education Conference in Bellevue I took a class called "Blogging for Realtors". Dustin Luther, owner of RainCityGuide blog in Seattle, and Russ Covano with Realty Objectives lectured the three hour class. After the class and later that weekend I decided to start this Real Estate Blog.

I try to add at least 10-15 posts to Northwest Living per month. Sometimes it's very easy to write and other times I get so busy with work that it's very difficult to even write a sentence. The reason I started the blog was to provide current clients and future clients useful information for the Bellingham WA real estate market.

If I was going to start a blog today from scratch...Id probably still do a stand alone blog like mine, using Wordpress. The Wordpress software is free and there's a lot of on-line support. There are many local Realtors that use ActiveRain. That's not a bad option and those that are using it a lot are doing well on search engine placement. There are other options like Blogspot, and most of the company's that develop sites for agents now have built in blogs as well. Another Realtor at my office has one of the best blogs in my area with The Johnson Team Blog. Lylene has been blogging for several years and has about 700 +/- posts to date.

If I was going to develop a blog in the Winthrop area I would choose 25-35 good categories specific to the Winthrop, Methow Valley, and Okanogan County related things to do. Once you start blogging it's absolutely amazing the traffic and unique hits you'll receive. I don't think you'll have much competition in that area. So you should be able to benefit from that on the real estate side. The best real estate blog site that I know of in your area is Carol Williams down in Wenatchee, WA and her site is CarolsWenatchee.com. She has been blogging for years. You might want to talk to her as well.

Well I hope this information helped you for the Winthrop Washington area and that beautiful Methow Valley. I put a link to your Windermere Methow Valley site on your response above and here. In about a week just look up Methow Valley WA real estate and this post will pop up. The search engines love unique content, especially when it's Dynamic in nature like blogs. Well good luck, let me know if you start a blog in Methow Valley. Take care.

Hi Jerry,
I'm researching blog sites and found yours, looks nice. You have good information. I was wondering how it is working out for you? I'm a real estate agent in the Methow Valley, home to Winthrop.
I just wanted to say your blog site looked good, I can tell you put alot of energy into it daily and was wondering how long you have been doing the site and how it is working out for you.
Thanks and have a nice holiday season!
