Whatcom County Realtors 2007 Banquet
The Whatcom County Association of Realtors recently honored eight individuals for their contributions to the organization and the community in 2006. Darin Stenvers, general manager of RE/MAX Whatcom County Inc., was named Realtor of the year. Stenvers has actively promoted continuing education opportunities for WCAR members as education chair and currently is a local director of the organization. Gragg Miller, broker at Coldwell Banker Miller Arnason and a Realtor since 1973, received the lifetime achievement award. Miller has been president of both the WCAR and the Bellingham/Whatcom County Multiple Listing Service. Christy Austin, branch manager of American Home Mortgage, received the affiliate of the year award. Austin has been an active affiliate member for 13 years and has served on several committees. As 2006 chair of WCAR’s banking and financing committee, she organized a panel to educate members about rules and regulations of Federal Housing Administration loans. Crystal O’Neill of RE/MAX Whatcom County earned the rookie of the year award. O’Neill achieved significant business success while also participating in numerous continuing- education opportunities. Doug Smith, a Port of Bellingham commissioner since 1994, was honored as citizen of the year. Sue Stremler, executive officer of WCAR since 1991, was named partner of the year. She oversees all activities of the 850-member association and serves on committees of the Washington Association of Realtors. Peter Roberts of John L. Scott Real Estate received the political action leader award. President of the WCAR in 2006, Roberts testified numerous times in front of city and county councils and planning commissions.
